The current Wegovy label includes several injection presentations and once-daily tablets
The current Novo Nordisk DailyMed record, published June 30, 2026, identifies Wegovy semaglutide injection and Wegovy semaglutide tablets in one manufacturer label set. The injection section includes prefilled single-dose pens, single-dose syringes, and a FlexTouch single-patient-use pen. Tablets use a separate bottle and storage routine. The brand name alone therefore does not identify the correct temperature, time, light, moisture, or first-use instructions. Match the prescription, route, carton or bottle, device, strength, and manufacturer packaging before applying any storage rule.
- Do not describe every current Wegovy product as a weekly injection or treat every legitimate Wegovy tablet as counterfeit.
- Do not transfer a single-dose pen rule to FlexTouch, a tablet bottle, an Ozempic product, or a compounded semaglutide vial.
- If the package and prescription do not match, pause and contact the dispensing pharmacy before taking or injecting anything.
Single-dose pens and syringes
Current single-dose injection presentations have a 28-day unrefrigerated allowance before cap removal
The current label directs storage of Wegovy prefilled single-dose pens and single-dose syringes in a refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). If needed, before the pen or syringe cap is removed, the presentation may be kept at 46°F to 86°F (8°C to 30°C) in the original carton for up to 28 days. Keep it protected from light and discard the single-dose presentation after use. The patient instructions say to discard it if it was frozen, exposed to light or temperatures above 86°F, or out of refrigeration for 28 days or longer.
- Confirm the package says single-dose pen or single-dose syringe before using the 28-day rule.
- Record when unrefrigerated storage began; moving the carton or returning it to a refrigerator does not create a new 28-day allowance.
- Do not use the expiration date to override a reached storage limit, possible freezing, excess heat, or an incomplete exposure history.
FlexTouch pens
Wegovy FlexTouch uses a separate 56-day after-first-use rule
Before first use, the current label says to refrigerate the Wegovy FlexTouch single-patient-use pen at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). After first use, it may be stored for up to 56 days either at 59°F to 86°F (15°C to 30°C) or refrigerated at 36°F to 46°F. Protect it from excessive heat and light, keep the cap on when it is not in use, and store it without an injection needle attached. The label says to discard the pen if it was frozen, exposed to light or temperatures above 86°F, or out of refrigeration for 56 days or longer.
- Write down the first-use date because the 56-day period is tied to this specific presentation and use history.
- A FlexTouch pen is not the same package as a prefilled single-dose pen, even though both contain Wegovy injection.
- Storage questions should not become instructions to reuse needles, share a pen, transfer medicine, or change the prescribed schedule.
Wegovy tablets
Wegovy tablets use dry room-temperature storage, not injection refrigeration rules
The current label directs storage of Wegovy tablets at 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C), with permitted excursions from 59°F to 86°F (15°C to 30°C). Store and dispense the tablets in the original manufacturer bottle, keep the bottle closed until a tablet is needed, and protect the tablets from moisture in a dry place. A pill organizer, bathroom cabinet, damp travel bag, refrigeration, or transfer to another container can create product-quality questions that do not apply to an injection carton.
- Confirm the bottle says Wegovy tablets and matches the prescription; do not identify a tablet only by color, shape, or an online photo.
- Do not apply the injection 28-day or FlexTouch 56-day windows to tablets.
- Ask the pharmacist before using tablets after uncertain heat, humidity, water exposure, damaged seals, or time outside the labeled range.
Travel, freezing, and warm shipments
Package feel alone cannot prove that Wegovy stayed within its storage limits
A cool ice pack does not prove that an injection remained within range, and a room-temperature carton does not show how long it was warm or whether it froze in transit. For travel, a delayed delivery, or a refrigerator failure, document the exact presentation, dates, known temperatures, cap or first-use status, carton or bottle condition, and any contact with frozen packs, direct sunlight, a vehicle, heater, water, or humidity. Avoid improvised cooling that can freeze an injection. The dispensing pharmacy or Novo Nordisk can interpret a specific exposure and explain whether the product should be used, discarded, replaced, or reviewed further.
- Carry Wegovy in its labeled original packaging with the prescription and pharmacy contact information; avoid checked-luggage temperature extremes.
- Do not use Wegovy injection if it was frozen, and do not assume thawing restores the product.
- Do not change the schedule, repeat a dose, use another person’s product, or buy a no-prescription replacement because of a storage concern.
Compounded semaglutide boundary
Wegovy storage rules do not automatically apply to compounded semaglutide
Wegovy is an FDA-approved finished semaglutide drug with manufacturer-specific injection and tablet packages. A patient-specific compounded semaglutide preparation is not FDA-approved Wegovy or a generic Wegovy equivalent. Its ingredients, concentration, route, container, sterility controls, refrigeration directions, light protection, beyond-use date, and temperature-excursion guidance may differ by prescription and compounding pharmacy. Follow the exact dispensing label and contact that pharmacy instead of borrowing Wegovy’s 28-day, 56-day, or tablet-storage instructions.
- Confirm the patient name, pharmacy, active ingredient, route, concentration, additives, container, beyond-use date, and storage directions before use.
- Do not assume a compounded vial remains usable because a branded Wegovy pen would still be within a manufacturer window.
- Reject sellers that call compounded semaglutide FDA-approved Wegovy, hide the dispensing pharmacy, omit a patient-specific label, or use one storage rule for every formulation.
When to pause and call
An uncertain storage history is a product-quality question, not a dosing problem
Contact the dispensing pharmacist or manufacturer before using Wegovy when the presentation cannot be identified, required refrigeration or dry storage cannot be confirmed, a cap or first-use date is missing, the time outside range is unknown, freezing or excessive heat is possible, tablets may have become damp, the package is damaged, or the medicine looks different from the current product instructions. Resolve storage suitability before addressing a delayed dose. A prescriber should coordinate any treatment change rather than having a patient compensate by doubling, combining formulations, or changing strength.
- Keep the carton or bottle, pharmacy label, lot information, delivery record, photos, and known dates and temperatures available when asking for help.
- Ask for a documented disposition for the exact product: usable under the label, discard, replace, or further review needed.
- Seek urgent help for a suspected medication error or severe symptoms rather than waiting for a routine storage reply.
