Product identity and label fit
Ozempic formulation and Jardiance indication must be identified before comparing them
Current DailyMed records describe Ozempic as branded semaglutide in once-weekly injection and once-daily tablet presentations for adults with type 2 diabetes. The injection label includes glycemic control, major cardiovascular event risk reduction for adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, and specified kidney and cardiovascular risk reduction for adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. The tablet label includes glycemic control and major cardiovascular event risk reduction for adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk. Jardiance is a once-daily empagliflozin tablet with type 2 diabetes use in adults and children age 10 and older plus specific adult heart-failure, chronic-kidney-disease, and cardiovascular indications. These product-specific indications should not be blended or transferred.
- Ozempic is not one route anymore: verify injection versus tablets from the prescription, manufacturer packaging, strength, and pharmacy label.
- Ozempic injection and tablets are not milligram-for-milligram substitutes, and they have separate administration and switching instructions.
- Jardiance is not labeled as a weight-loss medicine. Ozempic is diabetes-labeled rather than a chronic weight-management brand; Wegovy has semaglutide weight-management label context.
