Calm inflammation on your terms.

Compounded KPV is explored in preclinical research for anti-inflammatory signaling, gut-barrier support, and skin comfort.

KPV is a three-amino-acid fragment of alpha-MSH, a natural anti-inflammatory hormone. In laboratory and animal studies it appears to dampen NF-κB inflammatory signaling inside cells without triggering the pigmentation effects of the full molecule.

Because it works with the same melanocortin and anti-inflammatory pathways your body already uses, KPV is being studied for inflammation, gut comfort, and skin support — though the human evidence is still limited. A balanced, science-based approach to longevity.

What patients ask about

Patient feedback on clinician review, pharmacy sourcing, follow-up, and practical support.

Individual experiences vary and do not guarantee eligibility, prescription approval, symptom improvement, or a specific result.

My doctor was upfront that the evidence is mostly preclinical, which I appreciated. I started KPV for ongoing gut flare-ups and after about six weeks my mornings are noticeably calmer.

Priya N.

Patient feedback

No tanning, no weird appetite stuff, just a daily pin. Injection-site redness for the first week then nothing. I use it alongside my recovery stack and my doctor coordinates the whole thing.

Marcus B.

Austin, TX

Patient feedback

I went in skeptical because the human data is thin, and they didn’t oversell it. The intake was a real conversation about what KPV can and can’t do. That honesty is why I stayed.

Elena R.

Denver, CO

Patient feedback

Cold-chain shipped overnight, sealed vial, batch info on the label. The compounding pharmacy is clearly legit and doctor messaging was same-day when I had a question about timing.

Tom W.

Tampa, FL

Patient feedback

I tried KPV mostly for skin calm during stressful months. Hard to attribute everything to one thing, but my flares have been milder and the conservative dosing made me comfortable trying it.

Sofia H.

Charlotte, NC

Patient feedback

What sold me was that my care team treated it like real medicine — conservative titration, clear notes on the limited evidence, and a plan to reassess. Not a vending machine.

Frequently asked questions

No. The great majority of KPV evidence is preclinical — cell-culture experiments and rodent models, especially of intestinal inflammation. Those studies are promising, but they have not been confirmed in controlled human clinical trials. We frame KPV honestly as a research-stage peptide, and your prescribing doctor will set expectations accordingly. KPV is not an FDA-approved treatment for any condition.

In laboratory studies, KPV enters cells — including intestinal and immune cells — partly through the PepT1 transporter and interferes with NF-κB and MAP-kinase signaling, the pathways that switch on pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is a C-terminal fragment of alpha-MSH, so it carries much of that hormone’s anti-inflammatory activity. These mechanisms come from preclinical research and have not been validated in humans.

No. Although KPV is derived from alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, it does not meaningfully activate the melanocortin-1 receptor responsible for pigmentation. That is part of why researchers find it interesting — it appears to keep the anti-inflammatory activity of alpha-MSH while leaving out the tanning and appetite effects.

In rodent colitis models, KPV is taken up by PepT1, a peptide transporter that is upregulated in inflamed intestinal tissue. That means it tends to concentrate where inflammation is worst, and in those models it reduced inflammatory markers and tissue damage. This is the area with the strongest preclinical signal — but no human IBD trials have been completed, so it should not be considered a treatment for Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, or any diagnosed GI disease.

KPV is most often given as a daily subcutaneous injection. Because there is no standardized human dosing in the literature, protocols vary and your prescribing doctor titrates conservatively based on your goals and tolerance, often using short courses or cycling. Some patients use it daily; others time it to symptom flares.

Often yes — KPV is sometimes combined with recovery, longevity, or gut-focused peptides. Any stack should be doctor-supervised so dosing, timing, and goals are coordinated, and so your protocol can evolve based on how you respond. Your care team will review everything you are taking before recommending a combination.

Reported effects are generally mild and centered on the injection site — redness, swelling, or transient itching — along with occasional mild headache, flushing, or GI changes. Because human safety data is limited, we use conservative dosing and physician oversight, and you should report any unexpected or worsening symptom to your care team right away.

Peptide12 partners with state-licensed compounding pharmacies that hold state and federal licensure and undergo regular USP <797> sterility audits. Every batch is third-party tested for identity, potency, sterility, and endotoxin before release. Compounded KPV is not FDA-approved as a finished drug product but is prepared from FDA-regulated active ingredients under individualized prescription.

Compounded medications are typically not covered by commercial insurance. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds. Your care team can help you check eligibility and walk you through reimbursement documentation if needed.
